The 2010 Great Lakes Youth Football Classic is a tackle youth football tournament for players ages 6 to 15 years old. Each player's age will be determined at their current age on November 6th, 2010.
The 2010 tournament will be held Friday November 5th, Saturday November 6th and Sunday November 7th, at multiple state-of-the-art High School Football Stadiums in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
All participating teams must be true league or school “rostered” teams only. No “All Star” teams allowed! All particpating teams must provide certified league roster documentation from your league or school Athletic Director or representative.
Each team is "guaranteed two games" with the possibility of additional games dependant upon the number of teams registered in each division and teams willing to play additional games. In order to advance to win the tournament you must win!!! Each division will consist of 12 teams per division, no exceptions! The final tournament schedule will be mailed out one week in advance prior to the start of the tournament.
The entry fee for the tournament is $300 per team. Tournament awards will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each division only (limit 25 awards per team). Tournament awards will be presented after each division finals game is complete.
Youth Football Tournament Divisions Overview
7 & UNDER DIVISION (7U): Skill player max weight is 90lbs and unlimited line weight. No Kicking or Punting. Each drive will start on the 20 yard line in change of possession situations. Players will be 6 and 7 years old in this division. Maximum roster size of 25 players only allowed. See tournament rules PDF for full division details.
Two coaches per team will be allowed on the field at once and are required to stand 10 yards away from the team, once the huddle is over. All coaches on the field must remain quiet until the ball is snapped. Coaches are on the field to coach and not officiate. Any coach in violation of this rule will be moved ot the sideline.
9 & UNDER DIVISION (9U): Skill player max weight is 115lbs and unlimited line weight. No Kicking or Punting. Each drive will start on the 20 yard line in change of possession situations. Players will be 8 and 9 years old in this division and any player that is age 9 turning 10 before November 5th, 2010 may compete in this division. Maximum roster size of 25 players only allowed. 11 & UNDER DIVISION (11U): Skill player max weight is 135lbs and unlimited line weight no rushing the punter or kicker and no players are allowed to line-up over the center. Once the ball is received the defense can advance to the ball. Players will be 10 and 11 years old in this division any player that is age 11 turning 12 before November 5th, 2010 may compete in this division. Maximum roster size of 25 players only allowed. 13 UNDER DIVISION (13U 7th & 8th Grade Weight Restricted):
Skill player max weight is 170lbs and unlimited line weight. All punts and kicks are live and follow high school punt and kick rules. Players will be 13 years old and under in this division. Younger players are allowed in this division. Maximum roster size of 25 players only allowed. See tournament rules PDF for full division details. No coaches allowed on the field.
14/15 & UNDER DIVISION: (7th & 8th Grade Unlimited Weight): No weight limit and younger players are allowed in this division. The most competitive division in the tournament and All live kicks. Maximum roster size of 25 players only allowed.
